Between is my ongoing final degree project. It is a printed publication created around the theme of the feeling of belonging shared by many people far from home — a sensation of feeling split, between places. It captures the tension between comfort and discomfort, familiarity and unfamiliarity, where one is never fully rooted yet never completely lost.
The publication was entirely handmade, printed in college, and hand-bound.

The main book, a hybrid between a picture book and
a special magazine edition, offers a visual and immersive
reading experience, with transparent pages throughout. It
also includes separate inserts for the essay and interviews,
connected to the narrative.

The concept of being between places is explored
metaphorically, with a predominance of images that tell
short stories and invite the reader into an immersive
experience. It includes an essay, short articles, interviews,
personal thoughts and surprise elements.

The illustrations were created using both Procreate and Photoshop. The applied textures and the slightly 'misplaced print' aesthetic reflect the theme of feeling in motion, out of place, and fragmented. The use of transparent pages and flaps invites the reader to contribute to the narrative themselves — a small tribute to Bruno Munari.

One of the most meaningful parts of the project was the conversations with people living away from home, either by choice or necessity. These interviews are presented in a dos-à-dos format, with the English translation on one side and the interviewee’s original language on the other.
